Nancy Heywood

September 8, 1947 -  August 20, 2025

Nancy Christina Porter Heywood was born on September 8th, 1947, to Kenneth Carr Porter and Lula Garnet Beck. She passed away on August 20th, 2025. We know that Morgan, her son, was there waiting to welcome her with love and open arms, making certain she wasn’t afraid and only knew happiness as soon as she passed on to whatever strange and beautiful place we all end up after we leave this earthly world.

Nancy grew up in Ogden and met the father of her children, Robert Heywood, whom she married on April 27th, 1968, and later divorced. They had 4 incredible, caring, and sometimes strong-willed children: Robert ‘Jason’ (Lynn), Morgan(Tarra), Christina(Mike), and KC(Andy). We all know who her favorite was, though…

In her early years, she was a teacher of cosmetology, a hairdresser, a very skilled seamstress; creating Halloween costumes for her children and beautiful flower-girl dresses for her granddaughters, a delightful baker; making beautiful wedding cakes and amazing pumpkin bread, was a youth coach for sports teams and never once missed a single game for any of her four children. She did all of this while running on black coffee, no matter the time of day.

She enjoyed fishing (particularly at Strawberry Reservoir) watching Jazz games, golfing, debating about the news, watching eagles in their nests online, and playing poker not only online, but with all our friends and family in what we call our “Home Poker Tour”. Nobody wanted to be on her table during Poker, though. She was far too good and fully understood the term “poker-face”, which made her an intimidating opponent at the table.

She has 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren who affectionately called her Grandma or “GG”. Every single one of them learned their sarcasm from her, and she made sure they never forgot what she taught them. She was incredibly caring and gave the BEST hugs. She made sure to wrap you up nice and tight under the heat lamps while getting you ready for bed to help you sleep. She was always there as a listening ear, comforting shoulder, and your biggest supporter. She was also never afraid to tell you to ‘pull your head out of your ass’ if you were being stubborn. She also shared her love of Elvis and Michael Jackson with her grandchildren. She shared stories of getting to see Elvis live and fainting due to ‘‘how handsome he was. She just couldn’t take it’. There are so many fond memories of her that we will get to remember her by, for which we will be forever grateful.

She is preceded in death by her parents (Kenneth and Lula), brother (Roger), two sisters (Marie and Beverley), and her son Morgan.

She is survived by her sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

At Nancy’s request, we will be having a private viewing held in her honor. Thank you for your love and support!
