Robert "Bob" Tingey Brueckner

October 20, 1947 ~ November 12, 2022 (age 75)

Our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend has returned home to his Heavenly Father. Robert Tingey Brueckner, 75, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones.

The oldest of five children, Bob was reared in Ogden and was active in church, school, and sports. Bob found pride in becoming a “renaissance man” and learned many different skills and hobbies across his lifetime. Academically, he earned four college degrees, spoke three languages, and built a large guitar and piano repertoire. He enjoyed playing the piano, and organ, for his family and at church. In athletics, Bob enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and football. Spending time on family ranches in Woodruff, UT also led to another of his lifelong athletic pursuits - rodeo. At a young age Bob became involved with ranching and developed a love and passion for horses. Bob was an accomplished rider and earned many awards as a rodeo cowboy and during college he became a skilled bull rider. After college, he began officiating baseball at various levels, but experienced his greatest officiating success as he became an NCAA basketball referee on the east coast.

Following missionary service in Brazil, Bob enrolled at Weber State where he met his sweetheart, Bonnie Barker. They were sealed together in the Logan Utah Temple and have enjoyed more than fifty years of marriage together. Upon graduating from Weber State, Bob enrolled at Georgetown University’s School of Medicine to study dentistry. During this time, Bob was hired as the first temple guard for the Washington D.C. Temple where he trained the service dogs and guarded the temple as it was constructed. After the temple opened in 1974, Bob and Bonnie served as temple workers and became the youngest active temple workers serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time. Following Georgetown, Bob pursued working in the medical device field and built a career that saw him travel the world, climb to the executive suite, and enjoy success that allowed him to retire at 47.

Bob was a capable and savvy businessman who opened and operated several businesses and other endeavors during his lifetime. Bob excelled at nearly anything he put his mind to and led by example. Bob had a passion for scouting and served for many years as the Scoutmaster of Troop 507 in North Ogden. All of that paled in comparison to his success as a father and grandfather. He was dedicated, loving, and received his greatest satisfaction from helping his family and seeing his children and grandchildren succeed. Later in life, Bob returned to temple service and labored as a temple worker at the Ogden Temple in the Portuguese language.

Bob has joined his parents, Genett Tingey and Allen H. Brueckner, two of his grandchildren, Ally and Gabe, in the afterlife. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his four children and their spouses: Jenifer, Jared (Ashlee), Jaclyn (Lynn), and Juliet, as well as twelve grandchildren: Reese, Hudson, Tate, Gambel, Paysen, Lyla, Graden, Charlee, Bentley, Riggins, Teagan, Scarlet, and his sister Jodi.

Services will be held on November 28th at 11am, at the Fruitland Dr. chapel located at 2340 Fruitland Dr., North Ogden. A viewing will be held on November 27th from 6-8pm at the same location, and again prior to the service on Nov 28th from 10-10:45am.
